Mechanical Design Draftsperson
Winder Electrical specialise in the design, build, deployment and management of power transformers and distribution transformers.
Winder Electrical was originally established in 1899. We are a specialist company in the design, testing, building, deployment and management of power systems including power transformers, distribution transformers and switchgear for offices and factories, as well as large scale transformer applications for major blue-chip companies. Our customers include industrial companies and major UK utilities.
We are now looking for an experienced mechanical draftsperson to add to our growing engineering team. This role will entail being able to produce designs and drawings for transformers up to a voltage of 132kV, including tanks, lead arrangements, core clamping structures, winding end insulation and connections to bushings. Other duties will include development of Engineering and Manufacturing instructions and helping to resolve manufacturing problems. Skills will include being able to liaise with different departments of the company while contributing to the development and training needs of the Design team, so good communication skills are a must.
The ideal applicants will:
- Ideally possess a BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. - Have gained previous experience in a transformer engineering environment.
- Be a motivated individual with an eye for detail.
- Have experience and competence in using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Be an effective communicator and have good written English.
Working Hours
Standard hours of work are 37.5hrs per week.
The hours of work are 8:30a.m. to 5:00pm. Monday to Thursday; 8:30a.m. to 3:45pm. Friday, with a lunch break of 45mins per day. From time to time, you may be required to work different hours dependent on the pressures of the business and you will be expected to act responsibly in accommodating this need for flexibility. Salary is dependent on experience/qualifications.
