Leeds based manufacturer of power generation and electrical equipment, Winder Power has been awarded BS EN ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management status following a full audit of its environmental policies. The award certifies the business as a caring manufacturer that, by reducing waste, minimises its impact on the environment, improves quality and reduces costs.
With increasing numbers of blue chip organisations demanding the environmental management qualification from potential suppliers, Winder Power’s success will also create new business opportunities to secure contracts with many of the country’s leading utility companies.
The qualification process has been project managed internally by quality and health & safety manager Chris Brookes, whose team spent 16 weeks demonstrating the company’s suitability for the award.
Winder Power has also renewed its BS EN ISO 9001 quality management status in line with the new 2008 standard, signifying further improvements in its internal quality processes.
General manager Paul Matthews was quick to praise the efforts of his team in demonstrating the company’s best practice approach, as he explained; “Chris and his team have worked very hard to ensure that we successfully completed the ISO 14001 qualification, as well as updating our ISO 9001 status.”
“Together these accreditations not only demonstrate our commitment to quality and the environment, but being able to prove our best practice approach means that we can now tender for larger contracts with blue chip organisations where previously we wouldn’t have been able to.
Winder Power has recently announced a number of key contract wins including an £8 million order from Scottish and Southern Energy.
